What is the Light Therapy Balance Protocol?

The Balance Protocol (also known as Proprioception) is about achieving a clearer communication between the brain and the nervous system to promote a more relaxed state of balance (homeostasis). Increasing the strength of this connection can:

  • Help to restore system blood flow, lymphatic flow/drainage to the brain, organs, glands, muscles, etc.
  • Restore proper motor neuron feedback (muscle tension), which results in a return to natural spinal posture positioning, balance, and over-all dexterity
  • Aid in reducing structural issues and the interference they cause on neural communication in general
  • Reduce the physiological functionality deviances (disease) which stem from emotional disturbances, thereby reducing stress from the tissues
  • Address Dental Distress Syndrome

Dental dysfunction can cause ill-effects throughout the body. Dr. A.C. Fonder called these ill effects Dental Distress Syndrome and determined that these problems can be addressed by physiologically balancing molar support, which is the goal of the Balance Protocol.

The Light Therapy Balance Protocol
Placement of Wooden Sticks:
Wooden sticks are first placed on top of the back molars and positioned to the outside of the eye teeth. Bite down with enough pressure to hold the sticks in place without clenching the jaw.
Placement of LED Pads Using Setting #6 – 2349 Hz During 10 Minute Session:
  • over the eyes using the eyemask
  • around the jaw
  • on  the back points
  • across the chest covering the collarbones
  • across lower back where the top of the glute muscles attach to the pelvis
  • both sides of the groin where the leg meets the pelvis

How might I feel during and after a Light Therapy Session?

What will I feel during the session?

LED light therapy is non-abrasive, non-invasive, painless, and restorative. During a session, a client might feel a mild, soothing warmth or tingling sensation. It is very subtle energetic light therapy and completely painless.

Clients generally feel an increase in overall wellbeing. Often clients fall into a deep and restful sleep and awake saying it is the best nap they have ever had!

It is very important to drink plenty of water after a light therapy session to flush your system as a lot of clearing/cleansing/detoxing takes place within your body during the session.

How will I feel after a session?

Outcomes are always dependent on the individual client. Our mind has a significant impact on the health of our body, so the client’s own mind-body connection can also play a significant role in how a client benefits from a light therapy session. [Note: for a more scientific view of the Body-Mind connection, see The Connection: Mind your body]

If a condition is caused by a specific action/behavior which the client does not eliminate or minimize, light therapy will have reduced benefits.

Occasionally, a client may experience an increase in pain or discomfort for a short period of time after a session as circulation to an injured/damaged area increases. This is generally a normal process as the nerves and tissues in the affected area begin to heal.

Chronic Conditions:
The longer a client has experienced a chronic condition (lasting more than six months), generally the longer it takes to improve, so the time it takes to benefit from light therapy for chronic conditions will vary.

Acute Conditions:
The sooner a client utilizes light therapy for an acute condition (lasting less than six months), generally the less time it takes to feel the benefits of light therapy, so the time it takes to benefit from light therapy for acute conditions will vary.

Is there anyone who should not have a light therapy session?

Contraindications:

While Light Therapy is safe to use for people of all ages, there are some instances where it is not recommended without discussion and approval from your medical doctor or health care practitioner. Examples of these instances include:

  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Clients with chronic low blood pressure
  • Clients with a history of epilepsy
  • Clients with an active carcinoma
  • Clients taking medication to prevent blood clots (blood thinners such as Coumadin)
  • Clients taking nitrates such as nitroglycerin
  • Clients with any areas of malignant tissue
  • Clients with any areas of active bleeding
  • Over sites of known malignancy

Precautions

  • If you are experiencing prolonged redness or sensitivity to the treatment area, discontinue use and consult your healthcare professional as soon as possible.
  • It is important for clients to drink plenty of fluids before and after the sessions and stay hydrated.

What can Light Therapy do?

Light Therapy works on human tissue at the cellular level, transferring energy to the mitochondria, which function as microscopic power plants, helping the body repair itself. It can also speed up or slow down certain chemical processes in cells. [Learn more: In Light Wellness Systems LED Animation (4:10]

By placing the LED pads directly to the area of concern, light therapy stimulates the release of nitric oxide. Releasing nitric oxide from hemoglobin in the blood has an anti-inflammatory effect on the body that can regenerate tissue, reduce pain, and increase circulation. More specifically, light therapy has been known to:

Increase circulation/vascularity: Increase the formation of new capillaries, which are additional blood vessels that replace damaged ones. New capillaries speed up the healing process by carrying more oxygen as well as more nutrients needed for healing, and they can also carry more waste products away.

Stimulate the production of collagen: Collagen is the most common protein found in the body. It is the essential protein used to repair damaged tissue and to replace old tissue.

Stimulate the release of adenosine triphosphate (ATP): ATP is the major carrier of energy to all cells. Increases in ATP allow cells to accept nutrients faster and get rid of waste products faster by increasing the energy level in the cell. All food turns into ATP before the cells utilize it. ATP provides the chemical energy that drives the chemical reaction of the cell.

Increase lymphatic system activity: Edema, which is the swelling of the body, has two major components: the liquid part, which can be evacuated by the blood system; the second is comprised of the proteins that have to be evacuated by the lymph system. Research has shown that the lymph vessel diameter and the flow of the lymph system can be doubled with the use of Light Therapy, which means that both parts of edema (liquid and protein) can be evacuated at a much faster rate to relieve swelling.

Reduce the excitability of nervous tissue: The photons of light energy enter the body as negative ions. This calls upon the body to send positive ions, like calcium among others, to go to the area being treated. These ions assist in firing the nerves, thereby relieving pain.

Stimulate fibroblastic activity that aids in the repair process: Fibroblast are present in connective tissue and are capable of forming collagen fibers.

Increase phagocytosis: The process of scavenging for and ingesting dead or degenerated cells by phagocyte cells for the purpose of clean up. This is an important part of the infection fighting process. Destruction of the infection and clean up must occur before the healing process can take place.

Induce a thermal like effect in the tissue: The light raises the temperature of the cells through a photochemical reaction.

Stimulate tissue granulation and connective tissue projections: Part of the healing process of wounds, ulcers or inflamed tissues.

Stimulate acetylcholine release: Acetylcholine causes cardiac inhibition, vasodilation, gastrointestinal peristalsis and other parasympathetic effects.

What are the infrared, red and blue light pads used in Light Therapy?

The In Light Wellness Systems’ LED pads used in Light Therapy deliver near infrared, red and blue light waves, each with a different depth penetration. The pads contain various combinations of these three lights as well as the number of diodes of each. All the pads contain infrared diodes with the exception of the eye mask. (Note: only the eye mask should be used on the eyes.) The pads are different sizes and are placed directly on the body. The pads are different sizes and are placed directly on the body.

The diverse tissue and cell types in the body all have their own unique light absorption characteristics; that is, they will only absorb light at specific wavelengths and not at
others. For example, skin layers, because of their high blood and water content, absorb red light very readily, while calcium and phosphorus absorb light of a different
wavelength.

Skin Absorbency-with border3

Near Infrared Light: Near Infrared (NIR) light at wavelengths from 750 nm (nanometer) to 1400 nm is not visible to the eye. Due to its longer wavelength, it can penetrate deep into the body based on power level, right down to bones and even make them vibrate creating space, and subsequently, pass through them. This makes it ideal for working on issues concerning the internal organs, glands, musculoskeletal issues where bone, cartilage, joints, ligament and deep muscle tissue are involved.  (Note: near infrared light, which is in all the LED pads except the eye mask, should not be used directly on the eyes. So only the eye mask should be used on the eyes.)

Red Light: Visible red light at wavelengths from 630 to 700 nm penetrates tissue to a depth of approximately 10 mm (~.4 inches). Light at this wavelength can be very beneficial when dealing with soft tissue such as muscle, fascia, skin and other local tissues incurring problems on the surface or slightly deeper into the body. Issues in this area such as wounds, cuts, scars, abrasions, lacerations, trigger and acupuncture points in infections or inflammation in those areas in particular, respond well to red light.

Red light, along with blue light can directly affect our gland functioning, specifically the hypothalamus, and the pineal gland which produces melatonin. Red light helps to increase the production/release of melatonin, which signals the internal cells when they should be awake and functioning or when they should be at rest and powered down. Melatonin also sets our circadian rhythms so that we can stay in harmony with days and nights, and also the seasons.

Blue Light: Visible blue light at wavelengths from 430 to 500 nm penetrate tissue to depth of approximately 5 mm (~ .2 inches). Light at this wavelength can be very beneficial when dealing with skin and surface related issues, but also shows great benefit to some of the deeper organs functioning (liver function and bile conversion). Issues such as wounds, cuts, scars, abrasions, deviations in the skin (e.g., psoriasis, eczema, acne) and specifically inflammation and certain infections which may be anti-biotic resistant respond well to blue light. Blue light on the skin can also help with mood disorders and boost neurotransmitter production, specifically serotonin, although in doing so it can reduce production of melatonin.

Blue light, along with red light, can directly affect our gland functioning, specifically the hypothalamus, and the pineal gland which produces melatonin.

What is Nitric Oxide and why does the body need it?

Nitric Oxide (not to be confused with nitrous oxide) is the body’s natural vasodilator to improve circulation throughout the body. It acts as a signal molecule in the nervous system, as a weapon against infections, as a regulator of blood pressure and as a gatekeeper of blood flow to different organs.

Light energy stimulates the release of nitric oxide from hemoglobin, which enters the muscle cells through the walls of the blood vessels, causing the vessels to increase in diameter and allowing more blood flow, increasing oxygen and glucose.

The increase of oxygen and glucose, along with stimulation from Light Therapy, increases the production of ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate) — an immediate energy source for muscle contraction and essential in the metabolism of all cellular processes and sustaining living systems production.

What Nitric Oxide can do:

  • Cause the growth of new blood vessels (angiogenesis)
  • Decrease edema and swelling
  • Increase nutritional flow to cells
  • Restore blood flow to nerves (which may be responsible for pain)
  • Reduce pain by increasing blood flow to nerves
  • Speed up healing by improving circulation to wounds
  • Improve the rate at which bones knit back together as well as tendon healing

What are Nogier frequencies?

Dr. Paul Nogier, a French neurologist, discovered seven frequencies with which the body’s cells naturally vibrate. According to Dr. Nogier, sickness results when cells, molecules or particles of matter are out of their normal resonance or vibratory pattern. Applying these seven frequencies help the cells to resonate with their natural healthy vibration.

Nogier frequencies together with LED lights act as a trigger to stimulate the electrical nature of the body.

What are Solfeggio Frequencies?

The powerful healing of the Solfeggio Frequencies were used by the ancient Gregorian Monks in their chants and prayers to facilitate healing, transformation and change.

The six original Solfeggio Frequencies:
UT – 396 Hz – Liberating Guilt and Fear
RE – 417 Hz – Undoing Situations and Facilitating Change
MI – 528 Hz – Transformation and Miracles (DNA Repair)
FA – 639 Hz – Connecting/Relationships
SOL – 741 Hz – Awakening Intuition
LA – 852 Hz – Returning to Spiritual Order

Following the pattern established by these original tones, additional frequencies can be calculated. There are three frequencies which can be calculated below the 396 before breaking the pattern (63, 174, 285) and there are infinite frequencies that can be calculated above the 852.

What is Dental Distress Syndrome?

Dental Distress Syndrome was identified by Dr. A.C. Fonder. Through his research, Fonder discovered that “excessive dental distress routinely coexists with a pattern of chronic symptoms that are found throughout all systems of the body”. Fonder found that when there is dental dysfunction, the ill-effects can be seen throughout many distant and seemingly unrelated areas of the body. He called these ill effects the Dental Distress Syndrome.

Some examples of Dental Distress Syndrome are:

  • TMJ and poor mouth, teeth and gum health
  • Ear problems such as infection or hearing loss
  • Head and neck pain
  • Respiratory issues such as post-nasal drip or asthma
  • Eye and vision problems
  • Skin and hair problems (acne, rashes, dry skin, hair loss)
  • Visceral symptoms such as excessive gas, kidney issues and bed wetting
  • Gynecological problems such as PMS, miscarriage, cramps, etc.
  • Energy loss, back aches, cold hands and feet, numbness
  • Mental symptoms such as depression, irritation, worry, memory loss

However, Dr. Fonder determined that these problems can disappear entirely when the dental dysfunction is eliminated. Changes begin to happen immediately upon physiologically balancing molar support, which is the goal of the Balance Protocol.

It is believed that Dental Distress Syndrome is the dominant stressor of the body. When dental distress is relieved and circulation is improved through better posture and alignment, the body can do its work of circulating nutrients, cleansing lymph, increasing blood flow, improving nerve transmission and immunity. With the Balance Protocol Session, blood flow to the head, hands, and feet increases and numerous problems can normalize quickly.
